The appointment of former caretaker finance minister Lyudmila Petkova as head of the State Financial Inspection Agency (ADFI) has shaken the ruling majority. After DPS – Dogan raised a red card against the appointment, yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov from BSP defended her.
Speaking to BNT, he expressed surprise at the “fixation” and described the situation as “artificial tension.”
In a statement published on Facebook, the leadership of DPS warned that such covert appointments are unacceptable.
“DPS expresses its categorical disagreement with the appointment of Ms. Lyudmila Petkova as the director of the State Financial Inspection Agency (ADFI). We learned of this decision solely through media publications, without it being discussed within the Joint Management Council (JMC). We consider this approach unacceptable, as it was made without transparency and consultations with the stakeholders within the JMC,” stated DPS.
Dogan’s faction believes that this appointment serves Delian Peevski’s interests and that ADFI will become yet another tool in his hands. “Even more troubling is the fact that the goal is for ADFI to turn into yet another repressive structure in the hands of Delian Peevski through its executive, Ms. Lyudmila Petkova. The mission is clear – to use the institution as a tool for pressure on the inconvenient!” wrote the leadership of DPS – Dogan.
The party calls on Minister Temenuzhka Petkova to immediately withdraw the appointment of Lyudmila Petkova and to restore the principles of transparency and consultation within the ruling majority.
“We remind you that according to the Agreement for the parliamentary majority to implement the governance program: ‘Decisions are made by consensus. In the absence of consensus, the issue may be postponed for further discussion or a compromise proposal may be drafted,'” noted Dogan’s representatives, insisting on strict adherence to these principles that guarantee the stability and effectiveness of governance.
The statement is from the Central Operational Bureau of DPS – Dogan and the parliamentary group.
