Since November 2024, a photovoltaic installation has been put into operation on the roof of the municipal administration in Dryanova. This is just one of the steps that the local administration is taking toward the planned reduction of electricity consumption by up to 50%.
The project costs nearly 700 thousand BGN and involves installing an autonomous photovoltaic system for own needs with monocrystalline photovoltaic panels. The total installed capacity is 43kWp and a battery storage system of 40kWh.
The installation was put into operation after repair and thermal insulation of the main roof of the building, thermal insulation of the terrace roof above the first floor, as well as the floor above the unheated basement level, the Municipality reported.
The same month that the photovoltaic operation was put into operation, the Municipality of Dryanovo took steps to reduce energy consumption by half. This will not happen all at once, but in small steps. As a start, at a meeting of the Municipal Council on November 28 last year, the Energy Efficiency Program was updated, which is until 2027.
The general formulations were dropped from the document and specific goals were written in their place. Instead of reducing heat losses by improving their energy characteristics through renovation, the renovation of 10 public and 10 residential buildings is planned.
In return for the current “efficient use of energy resources”, it is stipulated that 5% of the heating area of the municipal building stock will be renewed annually, and the fuels used will be replaced with highly efficient ones such as pellets, natural gas, etc.
The program also provides for the replacement of street lighting with LED and the modernization of lighting in municipal facilities, without affecting their illumination.
Dryanovo Municipality is one of the first in Bulgaria to implement projects under the “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” program by replacing heating installations in six of its facilities, which saves 355,226 kWh of energy and over 650 tons of carbon emissions.
