Councilors in Svilengrad are among the fastest in earning their salaries, according to a review of the duration of their meetings in May. Despite working for less than an hour last month, they received over 1,300 leva.
This equates to about 30 leva per minute, or approximately 2,000 leva per hour.
The Svilengrad Municipal Council meeting on May 28 lasted just 30 minutes and 26 seconds.
For each agenda item they voted on, the councilors spent an average of 2 minutes and 5 seconds. A live recording shows that during the 31st session on May 28, the councilors approved a total of 20 agenda items. Initially, the agenda included 17 items, but three additional documents were added later.
The committees reviewing the reports before the Municipal Council session work even faster. Their meetings took place on May 20.
