In Dryanovo, history “steps out” of the display cases in the “The Museum Speaks” podcast

The Dryanovo Museum of History is giving history a voice – quite literally. The cultural institution is launching a new initiative: its own museum video podcast, to be called “The Museum Speaks”.

A dedicated studio has already been set up at the museum, equipped with professional audio and video equipment that will turn the museum space into a modern digital platform for conversations about the past and present.

Stories behind the exhibits

The idea behind the new format is clear – to reach a broader and younger audience, deepen the connection with visitors and offer content that is both educational and engaging. In each episode, viewers will discover little-known stories about movable cultural heritage, take a closer look at the wealth of the museum’s collections and “hear” the stories behind the exhibits.

A digital extension of the museum’s exhibitions

The podcast will serve as a kind of digital extension of the museum’s exhibitions – a space for deeper conversations, analysis and exploring links between historical experience and the challenges of the present day. “The Museum Speaks” will also provide information about upcoming events and initiatives on the institution’s calendar, complementing its communication on social media.

A valuable archive for future researchers

At a time when information is often consumed quickly and superficially, the podcast’s creators have also set themselves a longer-term goal – for the recorded conversations to become a valuable archive for future researchers seeking evidence of the people, ideas and processes that have shaped our time.

A continuing focus of the new format will be the role of museums in today’s dynamic and rapidly changing world. The podcast will feature specialists from the Dryanovo Museum of History, as well as guests including representatives of national institutions, academics, researchers and artists.

A new episode every week

The team aims to release a new episode every week. The content will be available on the Dryanovo Museum of History’s YouTube channel, as well as on the institution’s official social media profiles.

The museum’s new studio has been equipped with professional equipment supplied by a Bulgarian company specialising in photographic, video and lighting technology. As an official partner and distributor of leading global brands, the company actively supports the development of the visual arts and the creation of high-quality digital content.

With “The Museum Speaks”, history moves beyond the display cases and begins a conversation with its audience, the team at the Dryanovo Museum of History believes. In 2026, the museum team also plans to step up its work with specialists in Ottoman Turkish, focusing on the archives of the Ottoman Empire and the search for previously unexplored documents relating to the construction work of Kolyu Ficheto. In-depth archival research would be a natural continuation of the successful national commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Revival-era builder’s birth, which Dryanovo hosted through a series of events throughout 2025.
